Find Your Strength

Discover the perfect strength of chemical peel that is right for your skin

Over-the-counter exfoliants and facial scrubs can have less than desirable results. They focus on the top layer of skin but do little to stimulate cell turnover or improve skin texture and tonality. The Chemical Peels at Pretty Please Aesthetics contain powerful medical-grade ingredients that achieve better results than home exfoliants and scrubs. In addition, these peels go deeper into the skin to achieve dramatic results that are only possible in the hands of a highly trained esthetician.

What are Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels are a tried-and-true method of skin rejuvenation. Peels work by chemically exfoliating the uppermost layers of skin to reveal the fresh, healthy skin hiding below the surface.

Natural active ingredients quickly slough away dead skin cells, discoloration, and impurities without the need for manual exfoliation or scrubbing. In the days after, the skin begins to peel relative to the strength of the peel itself. Skin peeling is part of the natural repair process. Once the rough, uneven surface layer is gone, smooth, even-toned skin takes its place.

Am I a candidate for a Chemical Peel?

Chemical Peels cannot be used on broken, diseased, or inflamed skin.

If you have active acne, it is best to get your acne under control first before considering a peel. Pretty Please Aesthetics offers acne clearance facials and laser treatments that provide a clear complexion to prep your skin so it can safely accept a Chemical Peel. If you are eligible for a Chemical Peel, it can be done the same day as your consultation.

ZO® Peels

ZO® Stimulator Peel

Designed by Dr. Zein Obagi, the Stimulator Peel can also be called the “Red Carpet Peel.” This peel is made of a combination of lactic, citric, and salicylic acid, plus potent concentrations of other active ingredients to exfoliate the skin while stimulating the growth of collagen and elastin. It works wonders in minutes, with no downtime, peeling, or redness afterward; just glowing, healthy skin.

ZO® 3-Step Peel™

Not just another ordinary peel, the ZO® 3-Step Peel™ is a multifunctional epidermal peel designed to provide longer-lasting treatment benefits. Utilizing a blend of exfoliants, a six percent concentration of retinol, and multi-action agents that stimulate collagen and restore moisture balance, it evens skin texture for softer, smoother, tighter-looking skin. Skin must be prepped six weeks ahead of time with medical-grade retinol or prescription tretinoin. Talk to your Pretty Please provider ahead of time to get your pre-treatment instructions.

CHEMICAL PEEL PROCEDURE

Your provider at Pretty Please Aesthetics applies a customized acidic solution to your skin after thorough cleansing. The peel sits on your skin for several seconds or minutes, depending on the peel strength and your skin concerns.

While the peel is on your skin, your skin frosts or changes color temporarily. This indicates the peel is working. Light to mid-strength chemical peels feel tingly and may produce a slight stinging sensation that dissipates when they deactivate the peel with a neutralizing solution. Stronger chemical peels produce a more intense tingling or burning sensation that lasts a few seconds before applying a neutralizing solution. The natural acids in the peel stimulate collagen and cellular renewal while whisking away the dead skin cells and impurities to reveal skin with improved texture, tone, and clarity over the next two weeks.

Results

After your skin has finished peeling, you can expect a more even complexion with a marked reduction in pigmentation, pore congestion, and dead skin cells. A series of peels provides the best results, with each peel building on the results of the last. Your Pretty Please esthetician will develop a treatment plan to determine the ideal strength and number of treatments to attain your desired outcome. To maintain your results, each peel takes place every four to six weeks according to your treatment plan.

Recovery

The recovery differs based on the strength of your peel. Superficial peels cause minimal peeling and have no downtime. Medium peels cause moderate skin peeling that is well-controlled with facial moisturizer. Deep peels can produce redness, crusting, and oozing that may require the use of an antibiotic ointment.

Additional Reading

Skin peeling typically starts a few days after treatment and continues for up to two weeks. Do not pick or peel the flaky skin; Instead, allow it to slough away naturally. The peeling triggers a repair process in your skin. During your recovery, it is vital to wear sunscreen and avoid intense sun exposure. Peels temporarily increase skin sensitivity. Moisturizers help to soothe and hydrate your skin as it rejuvenates itself.

Does chemical peel strength matter?

Chemical Peels are not one size fits all. Pretty Please Aesthetics helps you determine the ideal peel strength to target your exact skin concerns as a customizable treatment.

Superficial Peels

A low concentration of AHAs, BHAs, or both quickly refresh your complexion for a radiant glow with exceptional smoothness and clarity. Ideal before a special event, light chemical peels produce minimal peeling and yield results similar to a clinical facial.

Medium Peels

A moderate concentration of actives penetrates further into your skin to stimulate cell turnover on a deeper level. The results are more pronounced than a light chemical peel as the skin tends to peel more.

Deep Peels

Reserved for the most severe or resistant skin concerns, deep chemical peels contain the highest concentrations of active ingredients to trigger aggressive peeling that radically renews the skin surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do Chemical Peels cost in Sacramento?

Chemical Peels are affordable compared to newer treatments that implement the latest technology, yet the results are no less spectacular. Pricing varies depending on the type of peel and the number of treatments needed. Schedule your private consultation for the most accurate chemical peel pricing.

Are Chemical Peels safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

No, however, Pretty Please Aesthetics offers a range of safe skin treatments for actively pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Do Chemical Peels Hurt?

Superficial chemical peels are painless. Mid-level chemical peels go slightly deeper into the uppermost skin layers, so the tingling sensation is more substantial. Deep chemical peels are reserved for more severe or resistant skin issues. If you require a deep chemical peel, Pretty Please Aesthetics numbs your skin first, so the treatment is tolerable. Chemical peels take just minutes to perform, so most people find it is easy to manage any short-lived discomfort.
